My Saturday

Unfortunately Mark works Saturday afternoons and evenings while I have them off so I get to be by myself until he gets home. Usually my Saturdays consist of scrubbing our little house down, baking, and watching Law & Order. After many dry cookies I decided to switch it up a little bit this week. What does that mean? Scrubbing the house down, watching Law & Order (I can't seem to stop) and hanging the pictures and things that I've been meaning to do for a while. Finally our little house kind of looks like people actually live in it.

When I say our little house man do I ever mean little. It's the tiniest little place you've ever seen. One time we actually fit five people in it. I know, it surprised me too. But it's brand new, no one has ever lived in it and it's super cute and I love it. It definitely wont work for forever, but for now it's just right. Unless we happen to accumulate any more stuff, then we're screwed.

These are the mirrors that we used as a guest book at our wedding.

Not all of my shoes fit in the closet so this is what I had to resort too

When we were looking around for somewhere to live we looked at a couple of bigger places but I kind of fell in love with this one right away. I think it was the wall colour and the fact that every room is a different colour which I LOVE. We've been trying to make it our own space for a while and it's slowly coming along. Now all I need to do is get our wedding pictures printed. After all it's not like we've been married for two months and don't have any prints to show for it. Gee whiz I need to get on that.

Engagement

My ring!
I was thinking the other day, I've never really told anyone how we got engaged. Sure I may have said "We went for a walk and then he proposed" but I've never really told anyone the story. I think it's pretty cute and so I thought I'd tell it.

A couple weeks before he proposed we went around and started looking at rings just to get a general idea of what I liked. We saw one that I absolutely loved loved loved mostly because I'd never really seen one like it before. I kept my opinion to myself because I really wanted Mark to pick it out. After that day we kind of just left it at that.

On June 16, I do believe that was a Wednesday, which we later found out was the day that Mark's Dad proposed to Mark's Mom, Mark was at work and I had the day off. He called me and said that because of the rain they were letting him go home early and he would be home soon and that we should go for a walk. Now I thought that this was kind of suspicious but I just went with it. He picked me up and we went for a walk to "Our Bench" that's what we call it. Its a place down in the coulees overlooking the river with a bench that we carved our names in. We stood there for a while looking at the view like we always do and it was raining which we both love. I kept trying to feel in his pockets for a ring box but there wasn't one so I was a little dissapointed. He was shaking like crazy and I was getting freezing so I said we should start heading back but then he said we should wait because there was something he had to do first. And then he pulled the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee! Clearly I said yes and it just so happens that it was the ring that I absolutely loved. It was a fantastic day.

Once apon a time...

Never in my life did I think that I would start a blog. Then again never in my life did I think that I would find someone so dang cute and marry him. I guess that's why I started this thing, to tell people about us. Our story is sort of typical but cute none the less. Let's see it all started in, I would say March, Mark would say January. I'm not quite sure where I was during those two months he claims we knew each other so lets just start in March.

Friends are amazing first of all, if it weren't for friends I would still be wondering around by myself. I guess that's kind of obvious, without people you're alone. Anyways, I give most credit to Brooke. Oh Brooke, I know how I refused so many times when you would come up to me and say "I just met these people, lets go on dates with them". But that one time it worked! You're amazingly friendly personality weirdly paid off for me. I guess if I had that friendly characteristic this would have happened earlier. Her getting to know people turned into that fateful Friday night back in March. It consisted of a YSA dance ( I hate dances but I decided to go) Mark asked me to dance and I said yes. Then an hour later he asked me to dance again. Fast forward to 5:00am when I got in trouble for still being out when I had to go to work in two hours. At work Mark phoned me and asked me on a date. And the rest was history... Our timeline went like this.
Friday- dance, Saturday- first date, Sunday- second date, Monday- we were a couple and three months later we were engaged. We were married on August 28, 2010. That was the most perfect day of my life. Literally everything went perfect, I could not have asked for a better day. Or Husband. But the wedding... that's a story for another day.
